Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II (IT Supervisor II) in the Technology Services Division's (TSD) Enterprise Applications Section (EAS), the Technology Specialist I (ITS I) position will function as a software developer supporting complex applications, middleware, and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes (such as microservices, APIs, and web applications).

The duties of the ITS I lie primarily within the Software Engineering domain of the IT Specialist I classification. This includes the design, development, operation, and maintenance of software systems.

This is a Sacramento-based position that may work remotely throughout California. Incumbent will have minimal to no travel requirements but may be asked to go onsite to one of DSH's six locations if needed and with prior notice.

DSH's six (6) locations includes:

  • Atascadero State Hospital - San Luis Obispo County
  • Coalinga State Hospital - Fresno County
  • Metropolitan State Hospital - Los Angeles County
  • Napa State Hospital - Napa County
  • Patton State Hospital - San Bernardino County
  • Sacramento Headquarters - Sacramento County

Working Conditions

  • A majority of the essential functions may be performed via telework and/or with flexible scheduling. Consistent with Policy Directive 5338, Telework may be considered with prior approval from management. If approved, incumbent is expected to provide in-office coverage on a rotational basis, and attend a variety of face-to-face meetings, and/or may travel throughout California as needed, with prior notice.
