The Clinical Data Analyst collaborates with department personnel to lead a broad spectrum of complex data collection, aggregation, analysis, and report generation. This role is responsible for database maintenance and processes to ensure accurate reporting to various internal stakeholders and external organizations. The Clinical Data Analyst uses appropriate statistical methodologies to summarize and prepare reports to convey findings without bias. The Clinical Data Analyst performs general administrative functions to support the operations of the department and may be asked to lead and manage special projects, as assigned by the Director. A sample of projects includes the hand hygiene improvement program, and surveillance, reporting and follow-up management in conjunction with NJDHSS for sexually transmitted diseases.
The Clinical Data Analyst performs comprehensive surveillance for healthcare-associated infections and epidemiologically significant organisms. The Clinical Data Analyst also participates with the creation, implementation, and support of evidence-based interventions to prevent healthcare-associated infections and organism transmissions. Responsibilities also include quality control to meet regulatory requirements, education, consultation, leadership, and stewardship within the organization. The qualified candidate must possess flexibility to be on call to cover emergencies and critical test results for communicable diseases; inter-campus travel may be indicated. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and complete work within short time frames, and must be able to work at a fast pace with changing and difficult situations.

EDUCATION: BA/BS with a major in health sciences or a closely related field required. Master's degree in Public Health preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: None Required
EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years experience in complex data analysis, academic research, public health, health care OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook) preferred at time of hire; Experience with developing and using database, spreadsheet, and statistical applications. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching a majority of the workday. This position requires lifting up to 20 pounds frequently. Works with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, printer and copier.
This position reports to Director of Infection Control.
