INSIDE THIS BUSINESS GROUP:
The Memory Solutions Lab (MSL) mission is to develop innovative open system architectures and solutions that transform the performance of semiconductor memory in SSDs, mobile devices and data centers.
OVERVIEW & IMPACT:
We are seeking a range of Host Software and/or Embedded engineers with varied skill sets who love working on leading-edge technologies and are interested to help innovate and develop Samsungs new SmartSSD product for application acceleration and computational storage.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Architecture and software development for new and innovative storage and memory products targeted for Hyper-scale and Cloud environments.
  • Software development for computational storage drivers and APIs.
  • Research and innovate on new ways to improve application acceleration efficiency and performance on SmartSSD and other hardware platforms.
  • Analyze architectural trade-offs of server systems related to the memory hierarchy and storage systems.
  • Work with product development teams (both local and overseas), product planning team, external partners and customers to define product specifications, develop prototypes and enable new products into the market.
  • Create new and innovative intellectual property, and document technical architecture specifications and whitepapers.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • BS with 8+ years, MS with 6+ years or PhD with 5+ years of experience in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience with Linux , FreeBSD and/or Windows kernel driver
  • Experience with x86 system architectures, multi-threading, DMA, memory management, interrupts
  • Storage software stacks
  • NVMe PCIe and NVMeoF driver stacks
  • Block, key-value, object storage, file systems, persistent memory
  • Virtualization, Hyper-V, KVM
  • High-availability, dual-port
  • Application acceleration / computational storage
  • Storage and networking technologies:
  • NAND Flash, PCIe, NVMe, NVMe-oF, SAS, SATA, SCSI, iSCSI, RDMA, Ethernet, TCP, UDP, Fibre Channel, RAID, erasure coding, compression, encryption
  • Python, Perl or other scripting languages
  • Publish papers for conferences and technical journals
  • Presentation skills

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • ARM or equivalent embedded multi-core processor architectures
  • System solutions that utilize hardware acceleration (FPGA, ASIC, DSPs, GPUs)
  • Lab debug using ICE debuggers and/or PCI protocol analyzers on hardware platforms
