RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Provides the overarching vision and strategy for data analysis and assessment for CSUCI and high-level analyses necessary for identifying campus priorities and informing other decisions. Provides comprehensive information and analyses to decision-makers at all levels of the institution, working closely with University leaders in the planning, execution and assessment of priorities and initiatives. Collaborates with other Divisions to ensure data accuracy, security, and accessibility and also coordinates scheduling and timing of large-scale, campus wide surveys and assessment initiatives. Works with a team of data analysts, providing the supervision, guidance, instruction, and support necessary to ensure institutional data integrity and access are in alignment with the President's vision - which, in brief, includes three major goals: (1) ensure that data analysts have time to work on high-level projects requiring their specialized knowledge and expertise by making routinely requested data easily accessible and understandable to the campus community; (2) coordinate high-level dashboards, integrated on multiple levels; and (3) ensure that divisional requests for analyses are met in a timely, efficient way.
Data Reporting & Analysis: The CDO-DIR serves as the lead for all centralized reporting and data functions for the institution, including completion of surveys and reports for federal, state, and private agencies, as required; develops and maintains webpages and data dashboards to ensure data sharing of institutional information, facts, and statistics; provides assistance to campus partners with respect to data accuracy for institutional grants, certifications and other institutional reporting; works to support requests that enhance the University's ability to develop and implement data-informed decision-making processes pertaining to planning and policy formation; provides the President and Cabinet with data analyses pertaining to current and evolving higher education, economic, demographic, and societal trends; assists in the development of analyses that support planning activities such as continuous improvement, policy development, and enrollment management; directs compliance efforts with IPEDS, APDB, and other data compliance requirements of the CO.
Data Access: This position oversees the development, integrity and management of IR data files; collaborates with and directs a team of data analysts, each of whom is designated as a primary point of contact for the various Divisions, to accommodate requests for data and analyses; coordinates with division administrators to develop appropriate campus-wide discussions pertaining to assessment results.
Institutional Data Infrastructure: The CDO-DIR works closely with campus partners to track goals, strategies, tactics, key performance metrics and dashboard indicators for the campus; serves as the lead for the University with respect to systemwide data and assessment initiatives; directs and supervises data analysts, collaborating with divisional administrators who serve as points of contact in helping to define and coordinate workflow.
Policy Development & Implementation: This position develops and implements IR policies as these are directed by CI or mandated by the CSU and develops processes that support policy implementation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Master's degree required, doctorate preferred, from an accredited institution with a focus in social science, higher education, or a related field that includes statistical analysis and/or research methodology. Five years' experience of increasing complexity in higher education, institutional research, program evaluation and campus planning, or a demonstrated record of comparable professional experience. Demonstrated formal and/or informal commitment to the essential values of diversity, equity, and inclusion which are core to CSUCI's mission, essential to achieving our student recruitment, retention, and graduation goals, and continually aspirational for our campus community.
Thorough knowledge of research techniques, including the planning of studies and investigations, survey methods, the determining of variables and the developing of reference materials; thorough knowledge of research reporting techniques; regression analysis, data visualization, treatment of data such as simple correlation methods, trend analysis, frequency distribution analysis, sampling techniques, hypothesis testing, methods of interval estimation; general knowledge of sources of information on social, economic, and population trends; familiarity with the principles of personnel management and effective supervision and ability to direct the work of others. Demonstrated expertise in managing large databases, analytics, and using database management software to query and manipulate data. Expertise in statistical programming (e.g., SAS, SPSS), Microsoft Office, Tableau, Blackboard Analytics, or similar data warehouse and dashboard applications required.
Demonstrated experience in assuring integrity in analysis and reporting, including the ability to analyze complex data sets; identifying and troubleshooting data integrity issues within the system including cleaning extracted data; and collaborative development of policies and processes around the use and collection of data.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally both orally and in writing, with evidence of success in explaining, presenting, and interpreting data, including producing written reports and making presentations for a variety of audiences.
Demonstrated ability to: work collaboratively and collegially as a member of diverse, cross-unit, and multi-purpose teams and committees; work effectively with faculty and administrators; lead groups of colleagues as needed.

Hiring Range: $10,833 - $12,083 per month
